Bio

Regina Hann, born in Korea, currently resides in New Jersey, USA, where, as an artist, she passionately explores the beauty of coral reefs and the issue of marine environmental pollution. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Fine Art  from Silla University in 1984 and studied painting at The Art Students League of New York from 2018 to 2020.

From 1986 to 2004, Hann worked as a fashion designer for her own women's clothing and dress brand. In 1988, she served as a judge for the Miss Busan Beauty Pageant. She gained media attention in Korea as the world's first designer to create wedding dresses with hand embroidery using mother-of-pearl.

Hann was born and raised near the sea in Korea. She recalls the joyful memories of the seaside as a playground in her childhood, where she enjoyed digging for clams with her family. The mermaids in fairy tales were significant symbols from her early years, and she dreamed of meeting one someday. Like a metaphor for miracles, she believes that when coral reefs recover, then and only then will the mermaids return, symbolizing the complete regeneration of nature.

Influenced by her childhood experiences and her environmental consciousness as a designer, Hann is currently working on a series of coral reef paintings, focusing both on their beauty and their endangered status. Advocating for coral reef preservation through her paintings, she aims to raise awareness of people’s interconnectedness with each other and nature, promoting ecological coexistence.
